Please don't make negative comments like this one, all it does is discourage artists that pour their time into making free nonograms for people to enjoy. Only say something negative if it's constructive, which this isn't. Thanks.

Wow..Its not that I dont admire the artists..I do. but its up to me if I decide that alternating colours and dots and similar colours is not for me!

The reason I said what I said was because your comment hurt me; it didn't come across as "I don't like alternating colours in general", it came across as "this puzzle sucks and is the reason I hate coloured puzzles". Some people are really sensitive about their work, and I'm sorry if I came across as harsh in my comment.

I would never say a puzzle sucks...ever! If I do think that then I make no comment at all! My eyes are not good at 78, and James777 remark was spot on.

Thank you for being kind even after my outburst, I hope you have an amazing day! :-)
replyOn this site you have the opportunity to choose your own palette when solving color crosswords.
In the left column with personal data, select “Settings”, then “beta-testing of the new page of solving the crossword” - “Yes”,
"Save changes"
Open the crossword puzzle you want to solve. You see a gearwheel above the number field, click on it. The settings table opens. Select "Experimental functions" (at the end), then
"Use your palette while solving color crosswords" and
"Reset settings"

Since this site doesn't have any tools for allowing users to adjust the contrast, as a puzzle creator you have to ensure there's enough contrast between colours. Even if the end result is less pretty.
At first I felt the colours were separated enough so I started doing it. But it quickly became apparent that the orange and red are hard to distinguish. Making the puzzle more about squinting at colours than solving the puzzle.
In this case, making the orange a midrange yellow would separate it both from the white background of the site and the red. The brown could be made black to give more contrast in the darker colours.
There's websites that can give guidance on how much contrast there should be between colours to make a site easy to read, you can use one of those to check that the contrast is high enough if it's difficult for you to tell.
Pretty result, but annoying puzzle due to the contrast.

You see, the thing is, this website DOES tell you when you don't have enough contrast between colours and it doesn't allow you, as an artist, to submit puzzles with colours that are too similar. I've noticed, however, that even when I've adjusted the colours to what the site deems as acceptable, it's still hard to tell them apart on some monitors especailly with the lines separating the pixels. It's not due to a lack of trying or want, because I do want to give people the best experience possible so I can take pride in my work, I'm just not very good yet. Thank you for your advice.

Hey, Battle Goldfish, you're doing fine! I personally enjoy the puzzles more when the colours are clearly contrasted, and I sometimes complain... but all monitors (and eyes) are different, and I for one am fine with these ones when I'm in the mood. Most of us really appreciate the contributions you artists make to this website. You are very good, so don't beat yourself up because a couple of people complained! :)
replyBeautiful and clever. I worked out about 1/2 what it was which kept me going. Sometimes the continual swapping of colours gets a bit tedious, but well worth persevering. Well done, thanks.

i thought colours were nice :<< good image! thank you
replymaybe the people that can't can't see the colors have night mode on, because when I turned it off I could see them perfectly fine. If not... maybe get better eyesight :p
replyI really liked it! I love nonograms that are symmetrical, it makes it a lot easier for someone who gets frustrated at nonograms easily. Keep making them :)
