Japanese crossword «Winter. Birdhouse»

Our feathered friends sure need this now.

The texture is amazing, with most of the colors and white spaces cohering beautifully, BUT... even after looking at it in thumbnail, I am not completely sure what the black part is. A bird? a foothold for birds? a chicken leg? I can't quite make sense out of this otherwise masterful puzzle...??? HELP! This is unlike your usual, seans. Even with the confusion , this is still at least a good picture.
