Not quite sure I get it...is this a game character or something? Great puzzle, though! Somewhat difficult for a puzzle this small.

I'm pretty sure this is a character from a Russian cartoon 'smeshariki' (Смешарики). Hope this helps! :)

The puzzle was unnecessary difficult with this (expletive) shading and similar colors.
I agree with ohlsdorf on the unnecessary shading. I would say it made the puzzle more annoying rather more difficult, especially in a puzzle of this size. I do like learning about characters from different cultures although virtual characters are less exciting for me as there does not seem to be as much variety distinction between them (remember the over-abundance of the "smiley" face a few years back?)
