Japanese crossword «Metapod»

Well, I'm not sure what this is, even with the title, but it was interesting and I liked the different colored greens. Satisfying.

An image that is sure to be a fan favorite, this is a great example of form over function. While the image is very rewarding, the journey is a disappointment. With five rows and columns (3 to start and 2 more revealed afterwards) that span the entire grid, any challenge is immediately lost. With so much of the puzzle filled in this way from the start, the rest becomes an exercise in going through the motions rather than using logic. An unfortunate situation for a logic puzzle.

While the quality of the solve is lackluster, the resulting image is perfect. The fandom will certainly be pleased. The use of color not only creates beautiful shading but also a depth that gives the image a 3D quality. The choice of accent color is also spot on. It blends well the primary hue while not being so similar as to cause frustration.

Overall: a few small tweaks to 'harden' the almost self-solve nature of the puzzle, and this would rate among the best Tiny color puzzles, not to mention in the genre.
