I think the difficulty calculation is confused by the tedium. It didn't have any of the pitfalls that a 3.5 star difficulty usually has.

Yeah, I hate to to admit it since the picture is so pretty, but ggg is right, it's not difficult, but it is a bit boring. A lot of 1s and 2s can making for boring, repetitive solving, especially if it's not particularly tricky or unpredictable.

I am easily frustrated by puzzles made up entirely of 1's and 2's, but I didn't find this beautiful bird tedious or boring.
