While it does look like a
ladybug
it's really not. As soon as I read the title I knew exactly what this was supposed to be. After all, my grandma & many of her friends used to have these in the 90s :D
Basically
it's a small make-up bag / wallet. The red-with-balck pattern seemed to be the most common one, it was rare to see any other patterns. For a general idea it would have been similar to this:

Probably a very ex-soviet-country thing, which is why you Westerners don't know recognize it

The puzzle looks nothing like that reference image. I still think it looks like a ladybug/ladybird insect.
Now that you mention them I kinda remember them! They were like in your picture but with ladybug design and the same button to close them.

Thanks wilkatis for the explanation! :D Now that I know there is kind of a pun in the title, I love it even more, haha! And thank you AlyonaR for this fun puzzle! ;)
replyEven with that explanation (I have seen those pouches, mostly for coins), I am pretty sure it was supposed to read "Bug".

Entomologists prefer the names ladybird beetles or lady beetles as these insects are not classified as true bugs.

Actually we entomologists call them Coccinellids, short for the family name Coccinellidae - and because we’re nerds. Seems to me that the purse pictured below is designed to look like a “ladybug” “ladybird” coccinellid - what have you, appropriate for a lady.

Probably that or a mistranslation: In Russian, "кошелка" means wallet/purse, and "коровка" means ladybug. Pretty similar words.
I don't speak any Slavic languages so they may be even closer in another language.
