You're correct that there are no aquatic tortoises, only aquatic turtles, but it's probably a translation issue. Different languages have different categories - French has two different words for owl, for instance, and each species is definitely one or the other. I think it has to do with tufts of feathers over the eyes.

Tortoises live on land, turtles in the sea. This should be called a turtle
