The bottom part is just tedious, but the upper is fairly difficult - altogether average.

Hard mostly because of the size, but very challenging. Once I started, I just had to finish!

I agree that it was perhaps only 1/3-1/4 of the crossword that was actually difficult, but even the easiest bottom part was already so beautiful and intriguing that it kept me thoroughly entertained.
