Yeah... It's not that hard once you get going on the orange.

This is the most true to life carrot I have seen on one of these sites. I enjoyed solving this. Simple to solve (solved in 0:06:49), and very pretty! :D
I wish *I* could find that ONE square... Back in a few days to look again...

And I'm back two years later still feeling stupid. I hope posting will magically make the solution appear...

you know there's a button that's called answer now. xD

I didn't catch that "one" square. However, picture logic let me to cross off a lot of squares that led to the correct solution. Guessing should not be necessary, but I really wonder what I missed logically.
replyWhat a delightfully fun puzzle! Totally enjoyed the challenge. And the question: what do you already know about where the key square is...
replyCan't understand how this was so hard for people. Simple elimination helped me along and I had no trouble solving the puzzle using only logic.
replyI don’t know why some people find this one so easy and others like me are hopelessly stuck, but there it is. I can usually do a 3-Star color puzzle.

I went back for one more look before saving and coming back later, and found a square I could see could give me a definitive yes or no with a little work. Went easy from there.

I had to guess, but here's a hint if you want it:
Solve the green first. It's easy. Then the square just above the column of 6 green squares is orange.
Have fun!

I wonder if those who said they completed this puzzle easily are using different game settings than the rest of us. The nice thing about this site is it's very adjustable to your own gameplay: you can turn on settings that will automatically mark off completed blocks, cross off empty squares, and checking the crossword for correctness. Likewise, you can turn these features off or put a time delay on them. It would be nice if everyone remembered we are playing with different settings as well as different styles.

I wish someone would explain how to set all the marvellous settings I keep hearing about. If I go to "settings" all I get is my personal information and a place to put in some sort of wallet number.

Probably not. This puzzle really is easy to solve, if you notice the pattern right away. Once the green is done, it's pretty self-explanatory where the puzzle is going and where the logical "first orange" goes. Some people don't notice it right away, some not at all. But it has nothing to do with the settings.
replyI think the challenge is in the "one" square. If you find it quickly then you won't realize that you passed a point of frustration. For some, the puzzle was challenging because of that one point, for others it was easy because they got the one point quickly. I think we can all agree that it was otherwise a simple puzzle.
replyIt took me a bit to figure out the next logical step after the obvious. But once I did, I couldn't believe I didn't see it earlier! Thanks for the challenge! Even though it was way easier than it first seems!
replyI didn't notice the "one square" at first, even after solving the green. But once I saw it, it was a cakewalk. You just have to see it, then it all falls into place.

So many comments on this one! Quite tricky, I had to use 2 hints, but reuse of the idea of one of those hints helped me figure out the one more square that cracked it wide open.
Enjoyable challenge!

I keep hearing people mention that there is a "one square" here that allows the orange part of the puzzle to be solved, but I haven't seen anyone talk about how to find that square. What logic do you have to go through to find it? (For context, I have no idea where it was; I had to use hints.)
replyOnce you eliminate the green, simple counting of the orange squares opens up a nice little colony that can then be exploited.
A satisfying little puzzle, thank you.

That was hard! The key to solving it for me was in the 4/3 column. Then I needed the same logic as there in one other spot.

Extremmely difficult for its size. I had to work "in reverse" ("What would happen if I put one orange here ? - Okay, it leads to something impossible so I need to cross that tile")

this is the comment that helped me finally figure it out ! thank you very much !!
replyAs soon as I did the green and saw the other color, I knew what it was gonna be

Was a bit stuck for a few minutes though, as I see other people found out too
