May be a flag or a banner. In this case, must be a banner.

it looks like a roman standard bearer! They carried the 'standard' which was the flag that acted as a visual indicator of individual units on the battlefield!

The puzzle was tougher than I expected. Or I was just in my morning mood. Which lasts the whole day.

The picture was basic.

And a good one as that! Thank you, Jelito!

Let's try to understand, it's simple English. Standard: regular, in no way exceptional. A bear is a large mammal, carnivore. since it comes with a suffix 'er' we conclude that this word is somehow an adjective, and the suffix means "more", so maybe more carnivorous.

Don't mind me, I'm still in hangover mode

Because English is based on a multitude of languages we have many words for the same thing and vice versa

What's really funny is that "Simple English" and "English" aren't exactly the same thing.

https://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

Which doesn't even cover Equus' point below, that there are multiple definitions for both the words "Standard" and "Bear." Or the fact that the suffix "er" is also a method of nominalizing a verb into a noun - as in "one who bears."

Is it any wonder, that even native speakers can get perplexed by the English language? :D

Wait, so it wasn't a pun?

I thought the "bear"er part was why it looked like the standard bearer had teddy bear ears!
