Japanese crossword «Bar»

Reminds me of a lesson I learned the hard way in a Paris pub. After a long walk on a hot summer day, we stopped for refreshments and in my best French, with what I thought was an appropriate gesture, I asked the waiter for « une grande bière froide » (maybe too much emphasis on the « grande »?). He served me what must have been a 2 litre pitcher! It was delicious and we laughed a lot but I recall it cost me about $70 :-)

In Lorna Doone (set in the 1600s), the hero often ordered a quart of ale. He was almost 6'8", though. That probably makes a difference.
