I think the interesting part of this puzzle is the interaction between the 3rd horizontal line from the bottom (11,7) and the 4th line from the bottom to about the 12th line from the bottom.
1. once you've colored in the sure areas for the numbers 36, 37, and 38 on the vertical lines and the sure areas for the numbers to the left on the horizontal lines, you can paint one more space to the right by 11 for the 3rd horizontal line from below (11,7).
2. then we know the sure area for 16 at (8, 10, 16) on the 11th vertical line, which we can again X for the horizontal lines at the bottom.
3. This time, we can X again for the 1st vertical line (4) because it is 3 spaces from the bottom, and we can expand again for 11 on the 3rd horizontal line (11, 7) from the bottom.
4. then again, on the 12th vertical line, (8, 3, 1, 14), we have a solid area for 14, and so on, and so on, and so on, and so on, and it's beautiful!

i love it when i think i've figured out what a puzzle is before i finish only to be completely wrong. i went from "oh, i know! it's barack obama!" to "huh this is kind of a bad portrait of obama, it doesn't even look like him" to "oh shit is this not even obama" and for whatever reason it's a funny experience every time
