It is very very difficult.
There's very little X-marking until about halfway through, and then it's all about inferring from the spacing between numbers.
I think it's a great puzzle in that sense.

Totally agree! Definitely had to use Xs, and while I don't really care for "character" puzzles this one was very challenging and fun to solve.

replySeemed difficult at first, yet then it became pretty easy. And I agree, quite a fun while solving it.
