It keeps you modest. If you had two palms, you'd wish for a hammock. If you had that, you'd want a roof over your head. And a drink in your hand, and wi-fi... The list is endless. So, enjoy the shade and wish for a friend :-D

We always do say "desert island", which it clearly isn't (ref. luxurious palm tree). It's a *deserted* island. I suppose the extra syllable is too much for our generations.
