In England, many desserts (including cake (or "gateau")) may come with a pitcher of custard--something like a cross between what we Yanks call custard and heavy cream. You know the damage you're doing to your arteries, but you pour it on regardless. But I haven't been in England for maybe 20 years, so the custom may have changed.
From now on, I am only going to comment about Xs if I did use them. This one was tough, but the cherry on top was not using Xs.
