Now try to argue that a thumb's down doesn't qualify as "no way." Just because there's a separate okay sign doesn't change Ines entirely accurate point. Thumbs up can be used for any affirmative response - including okay. Thumbs up and the A-OK sign are entirely synonymous in that context. Plus, the A-OK symbol that Amanda is describing is mostly in common use in English-speaking countries - where forming the letters O and K are relevant to the word okay. And in non-English speaking countries, the A-OK symbol is sometimes actually an insult, meaning basically that you're a zero or an asshole.
