I always anticipate a mindscrub. I was not disappointed.
replyNot as challenging as I was expecting given the difficulty rating, and a fairly bland image. Still, the journey was thoroughly enjoyable, and I always appreciate mindscrub's effort. Thanks.

A contradictory review, not living up to the name. Ultracritical seems to have abandoned his/her/their edge, perhaps having decided to be sociable instead.

Well I would have said that "a fairly bland image" is pretty ultracritical for what is in my opinion a very nice looking image done on such a small scale.
replyMindscrub has created a puzzle that solves smoothly but lacks the teeth of some of his more wicked creations. Aside from an advanced solving trick near the beginning, the rest of the puzzle yields easily to basic logic. While the creator has no control over the crowd-sourced degree of difficulty, this one is highly over-graded and disappointing in that aspect. Especially considering the name mindscrub has made for himself as the second coming of lalopop.
The image is bland and pedestrian. While the details are enjoyable, this looks more like a seans creation than the author's usual fare. The subject is flat and lifeless. Given the amount of space the author needed to convey his vision, it leaves me wanting more. And not in a good way.
Overall: Devoid of bite and lacking anything useful to say... much like my original comment. Sociability be damned.

For the record, I find your comments to be on the money, as usual. Not all ideas yield exciting pictures. I had originally done it as a 27x28, but that seemed excessive, so I found some ways to shrink it a bit more. It is tricky to make full interior detail like this without using up a fair amount of space, though. The rating may be a bit high, but there was that trick at the beginning, so at least it wasn't trivial.
replyThe beauty of ultracritical's assessments is they are well thought out, typically spot on and critics be damned. I would expect an artist to pay attention as it could be a learning/growing moment.
replyThat was fun - tricky at some points - good one, thanks.
replyMindscrub, probably the best of this type that I've seen. And there have been an overabundance of them.

This is why I rarely comment anymore. I don't want my critiques to put anyone off from enjoying a puzzle. People should have fun and enjoy the puzzles on their own merits. They shouldn't have to do so despite me. Happy solving; I'll try not to interject in your enjoyment any further.
replyIt's been a long time since I wanted a hint to get going on a puzzle, and I took two that didn't help much before I figured out the trick to get me going on my own. Really well done, and keep the harder ones coming, I don't want to completely lose my advanced solving skills.
