I would add prayers for the Russian population, who will pay the price for an irresponsible and egomaniac leader.

How about we start a list of world leaders that aren't irresponsible egomaniacs?

We can make that list. The president of my own country, Brazil, will be in the top 5. But not all irresponsible egomaniac leaders are invading their neighbours right now. And, if Bolsonaro would decide to invade another country, it would also not be so potentially dangerous, because we do not have nuclear bombs in Brazil. The situation is dire for all Ukrainians and, to some extend, also for Russians, specially the mothers of young soldiers killed in a war of choice. So let us be allowed to show compassion towards our hosts and artists.

My whole point from the very beginning was this is a website hosted by a country involved in a war. It would be best, on this particular site, if those of us NOT involved refrain from offering support for either side, or pretend we know what is really going on. Since there are two sides to every war, pray for both sides. I believe I have read somewhere that we are to pray for our enemies, whomever they may be. This will be my final word on the subject.

This is a good example of a situation where there shouldn't be false equivalencies made with arguments about "both sides." Just because there are two sides to an issue doesn't mean both sides have equal merit.
You call this a "war", but this isn't a "war", it's an *invasion*, this isn't some moral quandary where both sides have equivalently decent arguments for their actions and motivations; Putin invaded for the purposes of increasing territory and consolidating power; the Ukrainians are simply trying to defend themselves.

Again, Nono-Gram, I believe we should pray for Ukraine, as well as Russia. It is not pooping on anyone's floor to pray. I pray for peace & an early resolution to this conflict/war. I am sad to hear that you, Nono-Gram, would suggest it is in extremely bad taste. You are generally upbeat, complimentary, & seeing the potential good in people. I do not think most of us wish for war. And I don't see how JLB's comments were against Russia. I think we are all thankful that this Russian website is providing us much fun.
replyThis is not a war of Russians vs Ukrainians; it's a war of Putin and his oligarchs against the people who live on a piece of the Earth that he wants to claim as his own. And he is abusing his own people in the process. I feel deeply for the Russian soldiers and their families as well as the everyday citizens of Russia who will suffer the consequences of the sanctions against Putin. What is happening in Ukraine is utterly heartbreaking, but this is a lose-lose situation for everybody directly affected by this war, and I pray for them all. I hope that when all is said and done, the world can learn from this and find some way to keep any one person from ever having so much power.
replyI don't see it, or anything, unless the title is slang for "flames engulfing a church building."
replyanikina2021, you have created wonderful puzzles. Do not let the current comments keep you from showing your artistry.
replyFrom time to time it happens to me, like now - I just don't see it. :-)
