Buratino is Tolstoy's retelling of Pinocchio. It's always interesting the stuff that carries back and forth between the cultures and what is entirely native.
I'd have given him some hair though. From what I've seen of narrations specific to Buratino he's usually portrayed with a bit sticking out of his hat, much like Pinocchio.
