A symbol of some sort, doesn't match title very well
replyDon't you see? It is a basketball and a hoop with a shield
replyIn fairness to those who aren't seeing it, the dimensions are all way off. The circumference difference between the hoop and ball is half an inch. Granted that's professional hoops/balls, but even grades-school balls/hoops are less than a two inch difference. That hoop is FAR too big for that ball. Also pro backboards are about 4 times taller than the diameter of the ball/hoop. Again, with non-pro equipment they difference is less, but in this image the hoop is quite a bit longer than the backboard is tall.
Obviously no one expects these images to be perfectly to scale, but I can understand why people who have had little contact with basketball wouldn't automatically recognize this image, just based on the lines on the ball and this layout of shapes.

My, my, Femme Appeal - perhaps is now the time to untwist your knickers & get a life? These puzzles are just that - puzzles! They aren't supposed to be accurate to 1/1000th of an inch. I have had very, very little basketball exposure in my life - but I got the picture straight away!!

Femme wasn't saying they SHOULD be hugely accurate, just explaining why some had trouble seeing it. I enjoyed the explanation.
replyI did appreciate learning the relative dimensions, Femme, though I found it was easy to recognise (mainly by the lines on the ball) and if I had expected proper dimensions I might have been confused. John, your comment was rather harsh. If I had a comment like that it could really knock my confidence.
replyIf the ball had been wider it would have been the same width as the hoop and liable to get jammed when trying to get through.

Glad for Femme_Appeal's information about the width of basketball hoops and balls. I always thought the ball would be much smaller than the hoop!
