Yeah, if you've ever found a found a leftover sewing cabinet in your new house, you'll recognize this silhouette - which, if you peruse the free stuff on Craigslist, is apparently a fairly common occurrence. :)

I wish my mother and I had kept our old metal sewing machines (I got mine from a friend) - it's true they couldn't do zig-zag or anything else fancy, but they were so sturdy! The plastic ones that replaced them aren't half as good, despite their flashy tricks.
