an object... an animal? being beamed up!
The most accurate answer is that it is a heptomino.

There's no question, it's a Scottish terrier. It's gotta be. He must be getting sucked up by another Scottish Terrier. I know that's the case because he said, "Beam me up, Scotty!"

Fun fact that likely no one will read because of who old this puzzle is, but the above phrase is never actually said in any of the original Trek episodes or movies. It's a phrase that has been mis-said so many times that is now taken as canon even though it is incorrect. Similar to "Luke, I am your father" or "Mirror, mirror on the wall..." All of these are misquoted from their original lines.

and almost a year later I ask, since you specify 'the original', did the misquote get later said in a later work as a misreferenced callback? like tvtropes/ascendedfanon sort of thing
replyHey, I read it. I wish you had given us the real lines that have been misquoted.
replyI think that in the original text of Snow White written by the German brothers Grimm, the Evil Queen said 'Spieglein, spieglein on der wand' which translates as 'Mirror, mirror on the wall. It's not 'Magic mirror on the wall...' So there ya go ! Please feel free to correct me :-)
replyGoes right along with the book I am currently reading.
replyI think it's a dog - a Scottie dog as in 'beam me up Scottie'
