Funny timing that. I've been debating on getting a bonsai, learning how to care for one.
My apartment is near the parking lot, and there's just some hostas outside from a previous tenant, so people are regularly walking past, within a few my windows, without the slightest care for my privacy. I am allowed to do some decorating/gardening on the patch outside my windows, but I can't do regular gardening with my mobility issues.
So, I bought a bunch of cheap fairy garden figurines and some planters, and I'm going to create little fairy spaces on them and spread them around the area - that way I can make/maintain them inside and put them out when done. And I thought it would be cool to eventually put some miniature trees in the planters too. Might add a neat effect.

Grr - that should say, "within a few inches of my windows."
replyAt a Philadelphia Flower Show exhibit of these, a volunteer told me that when she sees one that is 90 years old or whatever, she thinks, "Somebody watered this every day for 90 years!" They have to be watered every day because they are grown without soil.
