I'm surprised. I recommend not seeing the movies. I remember anxiously awaiting each book that my grandson and I both pre-ordered. It's hard to believe that was over 20 years ago.

For the last few books we went to the midnight releases, in costume. I haven't worn it in years, but I still have bits and bobs of my Nymphadora Tonks costume about. My whole family are major Pot Heads. :)
The movies are ok, right up until Goblet of Fire. The rest, meh. What's frustrating is that the books work the other way around. The first two are decent, but they are extremely amateur - as they would be. The universe she creates is just engaging enough to get your attention. Hence the hype. But by the third book she'd gotten the flow and they really start to get good. By the last book she may be long-winded, but the story is epic. Just a shame the rest of her mind didn't grow at the same pace as her storytelling talent.

Proud Hufflepuff here.
We bought Philosopher's Stone in England because Darling Daughter (9 or 10) had run through the score she'd brought with her. Owner of bookstore said it looked like it was going to take off. Sorcerer's Stone had not yet come out.
DD gave up when Cedric was killed; Darling Wife is sort of meh. Me, I own the complete set of British paperbacks, the comple set of American hardcovers; and a complete set in French. Obsessive? Why would you say that?
