Is Lalopop making easier puzzles or are we getting used to them?

I needed a hint at a critical point... It's typical Lalopop...
replyApparently it's just you. It took me almost 49 minutes to finish this puzzle.
replyI think that you have found out that even the hardest logical X of a nonogram is "The numbers can't be placed to fill this square. X is here!"
replyEven before I started I knew this was going to be difficult. Thank you for the wonderful challenging puzzles, Lalopop!
replyThat took me some time - I even made mistakes...Thank you.
replyGosh, that was hard to get going! I had 16 filled squares and 1 X and couldn't find a way out ... until I did! Solving a Lalopop without using a hint is the best feeling! Thanks.

I gave up and "cheated" to get the first row. Even then it was tough. But I just came from doing some crazy rosebush with 6 colors where all you had to do was count all the little 1s and 2s and 3s. Totally tedious!
I MUCH prefer this kind of puzzle. Get stuck, see a way forward, get stuck again, and finally finish with a satisfying flourish.

I've stopped doing the color ones entirely for that very reason--too tedious! I love the challenge of black and white.

I like colours... in anything. And some of the colour puzzles are really good. I only do the small ones, though.
replyYeah, I don't dislike color puzzles in theory; they *can* be fun, but sadly they so often aren't as they're made entirely around creating pretty pixel art with lots of shading and gradients that make for tedious solving and sometimes really difficult-to-distinguish-between colors and with no regard to creating a challenging or fun puzzle to solve.
I really wish this site had a third rating for how fun a puzzle is to solve; some people mark tedious puzzles as difficult so you can't go by that metric at all. You just have to find people like lalopop and yec from word of mouth if you want to do the most enjoyable and challenging smaller puzzles.

Much like your enjoyment of color puzzles, a fun-to-solve metric would only work in theory. The same way people mark every snail and cat and mushroom as a 4 or 5 star rating for picture, every single puzzle would be rated highly for fun. It would be so diluted by non-relevant ratings any attempt to find puzzles by enjoyment would be rendered moot.

Sad but true. So often great looking puzzles are rated less beautiful than plain and boring ones. Still, I wish I had *some* way to rate that a puzzle was good not just because of how it looks.
replyI'm at 16 filled squares and 1 x right now and can't figure out where to go from here... I know it will come to me but oh man... it's frustrating!
replyIt was not very simple but I did it. I like the result, very expressive
