I remember this story! They invite each other over for dinner (I don't remember in what order) but each serves the water in a vessel the other can't drink from.

I don't know that story, but this reminds me of Wile E. Coyote, the Roadrunner, and lots of dynamite. Good times.

Various morals are taken from this story. One is that if you play a cruel trick on someone, don't be surprised if they pay you back in a similar manner. Another is about respecting each other's differences. The one I prefer is, no matter how good whatever you prepare, it has to be presented in an appropriate way.
