I will henceforth refrain from pointing out puzzles that are good for practicing using no Xs as it is likely people look at the comments after they do the puzzle making that information really unnecessary.

If you do not want to make the comments, do not do them, but the probability that someone will look at the comments before solving the puzzle or vice versa does not have to be higher in the first case. Personally, your comments seem fine to me.

Unless someone who has just completed the puzzle - reads your comments and is inspired to clear it & start again - with no Xs.
If only one person does this - you will have encouraged them to learn a new skill - so keep your "no Xs" pointers coming!!!

My biggest concern is that comments meant to be encouragement to others may seem to be pedantry which really looks good on no one.

Go ahead, be a pedant; it wouldn't be the worst sin committed on the internet. How things look depends on the eye of the beholder, and that's entirely out of your control.
