replyTechnically it's not "better to own one." You're statistically much more likely to be injured or killed by a gun in your household than to use it to injure or kill an attacker.
I mean if you enjoy the hobby as long as you do it legally and safely go ahead, but don't hold onto any illusions that it makes you safer overall, that's just not factual.
And a bit of a tangent but as for rattlesnakes, why on earth would you *shoot* one? Not only does that seem like an impractical way to deal with them but also just leave them alone or call in a professional to relocate them if they're a problem, they're not *after* you they're just defending themselves and they serve an important purpose in the natural ecosystem.
