why is there a line between the hind legs? The line make the picture look quite odd... as if there is a crack in between the hind legs of an elephant model
replyI believe the line at the rear of the animal is supposed to illustrate the leg being in front of (from our point of view) the body of the animal. But I agree, it is a bit weird.
replyIf you look at a photograph of any elephant, the hip contours are almost always clearly defined. And depending on the lighting, there can be a pretty distinctive shadow along that area.
Now there really should be the same definition line/shading along the shoulder area as well, if they were trying to get an elephant image with a little more realistic definition, but that the shading exists on the hind leg is pretty easily explainable.
You might as well question why LEGO figurine has ab or cleavage lines.

It looks like they had a gorilla puzzle and just added a trunk to it.
