I feel like this whole batch of animals that Kimmie has done have a specific theme I'm missing, like they're supposed to be some kind of mechanical or carved animals. The first few I did almost looked sick and malnourished, but now I'm seeing that it's a specific aesthetic in them, that I can't quite put my finger on. But they've been a fun grouping.

Remember the term pachyderm, for the supposed relatives elephants, hippos, and rhinos? By that term, you were close. It was obsolete even in the 20th century, but I bought a Golden Guide to Zoo Animals in the late 1960s which still used it. Now they group rhinos as odd-toed hoofed animals, like horses, and elephants as Afrotherians, like aardvarks, manatees, and hyraxes.
