Dudes... Think about the traditional nutcracker that looks like a soldier or sailor, with a lever out the back. Put the nut in the guys mouth and pull...
replyThe problem with labeling this image as a nutcracker is mostly the hat. The traditional nutcracker soldier design features a bearskin or similarly tall and straight hat. This soldier is wearing what is clearly a bicorn hat, most commonly associated with Napoleon and the uniform of French soldiers. But the tradition of creating nutcracker figures that look like soldiers originated in Germany, and of the many nutcracker images online, none look like this.
And a quick Google search confirms there is zero connection between the bicorn hat and German soldiers or Nutcracker dolls.

Wow. Way to be a complete and utter killjoy. You really had to go into a dissertation on nutcracker hats, because of a 20x25 nonogram?
If that's femme appeal, no matter so many of you stay single.

Is it any wonder, that some men can't come up with a way to criticize a woman other than calling her spinster-material or otherwise unf**kable? I'd bother to explain the combination of a popular film trope, a common phrase and a fictional character that went into the creation of the name Femme Appeal; but when you don't even seem to grasp that saying women "stay single" says more about the quality of men available than the attitudes of women, it would probably just go over your head...
replyYou might also take note, that rather than "nitpicking," what I did was explain why others are voicing vague disapproval or confusion with the image, based on the history of nutcrackers. If anything, I was explaining their nitpicking rather than voicing my own. In fact, often my comments on this site are to explain historical or cultural references that some people may not know about, in reference to an image. Most people on this site appreciate the combination of education and entertainment that goes into the puzzle authors being international. If you don't, well isn't that just tough sh** for you.

Yeah, I get your name sweetheart. I don't need you to womansplain it.
And oh no, I made a comment that was a generalization. Oh no!!! How dare I?
And no, it has nothing to do with the lack of quality men, but with some women thinking they deserve more than they do.
But hey, you keep on keeping on my sweetheart! Keep on with your opinions. They're wrong, but you keep on with them!

The so called "lever" on the back of the figure makes it resemble a marching solider. The open mouth is singing a cadence.
