It's much more satisfying ALWAYS to try to solve these without marking blank spaces. It takes longer with the more difficult puzzles, but you'll enjoy seeing the little dots automatically fill the blanks when you get a row or column's black squares all complete.

Agree! I always feel a small sense of failure when I start marking blank spaces, even on very hard puzzles, but I make up for it on the puzzles I can do without marking, where I feel so accomplished!
