Thank you for this excellent crossword, Muzika! Background: Old Man Borovochik (little mushroom) is a magical fairy tale character in Russian folklore also known as Morozko (similar to the Western character, Jack Frost). Although Alexander Pushkin wrote a fairy tale about him, he appears in a number of different stories, usually rescuing deserving daughters whose wicked step-mothers are trying to kill them.See for example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Frost_(1964_film ) and http://www.russfolkart.com/folkTales.htm#Morozko
