Somebody help me here--I think I'm seeing a moment of humor... or? Is there a disembodied being under the witch's hat? What is *really* going on in this picture?

Ah--humor AND social commentary, of a sort... In this nonogram, Western culture is chasing Russian culture. Baba Yaga (Baba Yozhka in Russian), is a pre-Russian deity who later appeared frequently in Russian folklore. In folklore she rode in a mortar, carried a huge pestle, and wore a scarf or tall rounded hat (for an image of a mortar and pestle, see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortar_and_pestle ).
As Western culture impinged on Russian awareness, Baba Yaga began to carry a broom, sometimes depicted as having a fork on one end where a bird would perch. On this site she has been increasingly taken out of the mortar and put on the broom. Notice that in this nonogram, the westernized pointed witch's hat is chasing Baba Yaga but hasn't yet taken over. Believe me, the *real* Baba Yaga would not have been caught dead in these shoes...not *just* because she's immortal. For more information, search "Baba Yozhka" and check out the images.
