Yes, it feels very familiar. It's OK, but not my favourite.
replyAnyone want to calculate the ratio of "head with legs" pics (2) to "strawberry" or "hedgehog" or "dog" or...OMG, the anime!!! I do not understand the motivation to take time to express consternation about this. Please, I'm an out-of-it reader who does not appreciate video games, but from a sociological point of view, I really want to understand. What exactly is the problem here? Why do the same people who love Gumpert's centaur hate this picture?

I am not entirely sure what you are asking here Sheryl, but I personally do not like this picture as I feel there is no sense of satisfaction with the finished picture. It feels like the creation was a bit lazy in that there is no particular image to relate to as there may be in a horse or flower for instance. Cartoon type pictures are things that I would filter out given the option as there is for 18+ pictures.
As for the 'motivation to take time to express' ... this section is for comments to be expressed.. Not everyone likes every picture, whether you personally disagree with the opinions expressed does not come into the matter. If you only want positive opinions expressed but nothing negative then that would not be a realistic representation of opinions. You could of course remove the whole opinions section and solve this problem.

I feel like it's okay to say "I don't like it". But I'm not sure about "ugly" and "already seen before" because it's either mean either irrelevant. So, you're right about telling opinions, but reviews don't have to be mean in any way. And Sheryl made a point about ratios ^^

No, it's neither "mean" nor "irrelevant." That is simply YOU'RE freely expressed opinion. If I think a painting hanging in an art gallery is ugly, calling it ugly is not an attack on the artist. It's not a claim against the artist's talent. It's not a defamation of the artist's imagination. It's using a word that's entire purpose it to express an objective opinion, to express an objective opinion. Calling a person ugly may certainly be called mean. Calling something they created ugly - unless they're a small child or otherwise incapable of taking criticism - is nothing more than voicing an opinion.
In the 20+ years that I've been writing online, I've had people call my work boring, insipid, too verbose, even just stupid. If I wasn't prepared to have to read such comments about my art, I wouldn't put it up for public consumption and comment.
If you're going to have a comments section that allows for people to express their honest opinions, you do not get to decide what opinions they voice.

Sheryl I honestly have to wonder - what part of "ugly" or "poor" constitutes hatred? What part of "This seems familiar" equals hatred? What part of "I didn't enjoy this" is even equals consternation?
There's no sign of the antithesis or emotional overreactions you're asking about anywhere in this comment thread. There is nothing but expressions of opinion which are not complimentary, and which are otherwise quite benign and banal. And I actually HAVE seen many people complain about repetition in certain objects - like butterflies and cars. It's not as if a creepy and strangely arranged version of a stick figure is the only thing on this site anyone has ever questioned the ubiquity of.
Which begs the question - why does anyone feel a need to assign vehement anger to people expressing simple and non-aggressive dislike?

You're right, Femme Appeal. I like getting constructive feedback which is specific (as yours is) and I agree that giving feedback is the purpose of the comments.
replyNo argue please. I know that it's not the best of my pictures, but it is equally fruit of my imagination. I'm beginner painter, so please respect my works

Good gracious! This is a puzzle site, not the British Museum! I simply enjoy the puzzles and appreciate the artist's contributions. If it's a really cool picture in the end, then that's the cherry on top. Never mind the arm-chair art critics, Gumpert! Thanks for what you have to offer to this site. :)
replyCute! I personally like the simplicity, both in style and difficulty.
replyAhah, I smiled wildly :D It's a funny one and I really like it! Thanks!
replyAt first I thought it was an alien but it turned out to be a face with legs.
Of course! And it is the fruit of his imagination so I'm all ears.

Looks a bit like the M&M's of the commercials :-)
Go on, Gumpert!
