Japanese crossword «Mummy»
Size: 28x39 | Picture: | Difficulty: | Added: | 03.03.18 | Author: Vigil |
This is a character from The Republic of ShKid, (short for the Dostoevsky School-Commune for Difficult Teenagers (I kid you not, Potter fans!)), a book written by two homeless boys who lived at the orphanage which opened in 1920. The authors, Belykh and Panteleev, wrote the book in 1926 based on true events and real people, including themselves.
The significance of the nonogram character (aka Mommy) is described in this synopsis of the Russian movie version: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Republic_of_ShKID_(film )
Apparently, the story is controversial in Russia because the school is established as a participative equalitarian democracy, but degenerates into anarchy with strong parallels to Russian realities. See https://www.rbth.com/arts/literature/2017/02/17/shkid-soviet-homeless-children_702733.

Wow, what an impressive picture - spassibo, Vigil!
Thank you, Sheryl, for the info. Between Vigil's artwork and Sheryl's explanations we're going to get a real knowledge of Russian literature!

De acuerdo con David King. Entre Vigil y Sheryl nos están abriendo una ventana a la cultura rusa, no sólo nos entretenemos, también investigamos y leemos.

I wonder if my second link is to a politically-motivated article. Vigil says this is not Lord of the Flies and the book is more about humanity than about Russia. I am afraid both my ignorance and exhaustion are exposed.
replyGreat picture, was expecting something entirely different from the title though. :)
replyIt is a picture that directs those who are not familiar with this subject to research. It's not like empty and ridiculous pictures.
We expect pictures like this from everyone.Thank you Vigil (also thanks to Sheryl Hill for information)...
