I understand what a rebus is but I have no idea what this one means. A'leaf? A'maple? A'Canada?
replyThere's a joke that Canadians sometimes use the expression "Eh!" Could this rébus stand for "Eh,Canada!"? Another hint might be that the centre top portion of the flag suggests the iconic Canadian Mountie hat.
But I don't quite understand the "apostrophe."
replyBut I don't quite understand the "apostrophe."
That apostrophe means that you have to remove first or last letter of the word depicted depending on the position of the apostrophe. But I still don't get it. Is it Aanada, aaple, or aeaf?
replyNice puzzle. For non-Russian, the answer is Stork.
replyThanks! I figured it was something lost in translation.
replyIn Russian Лист (List) = Leaf
Apostrophe removes first letter of the word: ист (ist)
Attach «А», you'll get Аист (Aist) = Stork

lots of non russian speakers have no hope of getting the answer to this. the picture can be done, but any rebus needs to be able to be deciphered by speakers of any language
